Looking Back:
This week the class studied two poems to answer the question "What value does technology bring to people's lives." One poem was from the perspective of machines and the other spoke to the idea of people providing skyscrapers with a soul. We also looked at the Latin roots spec, vent, struct, and liter. I started taking small groups to read the novel Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key by Jack Gantos, one of my personal favorites. It is a story about a boy named Joey Pigza. He is "wired" - he can't sit still, he can't pay attention, he can't follow the rules, and he can't help it. This story hits close to home as I see a lot of myself as a kid in Joey. It is a beautiful story (and hilarious too), and I hope you can get a chance to ask your child about it. The read-a-thon is still rolling along. Keep adding those minutes read so we can try to earn some more rewards. If every student in the class registers online at lhcsreads.dojiggy.com then we are awarded an ice cream party! Looking Forward: We have an important event coming up: Field Trip to Children's Theater: Tuesday, March 13th |
